Credentials and Experience

Douglas Gulsby brings a practical, operations-focused perspective to emergency management through his experience in transportation and logistics since 1976, construction military service, and disaster response in several hurricanes beginning in 1972 with Hurricane Agnes and tornadoes as a young teenager. As a former Navy program manager in a well-known H-53E Helicopter Squadron, he gained firsthand experience responding to complex and rapidly changing situations, including being on site and supporting response efforts during and following the Loma Prieta San Francisco earthquake in October of 1989.

Douglas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. His combination of field experience, logistics expertise, military training, and academic preparation, supports Gulsby Consulting's commitment to practical planning and preparedness, effective response, continuity, and organizational resilience.

Sherry Gulsby, MSFP, MSOL, DOT-SAP

Director of Resource & Content Development

Sherry Gulsby brings a diverse background in logistics, human services, case management, and organizational leadership to Gulsby Consulting. Her experience working with families in crisis and individuals facing homelessness has provided firsthand insight into the challenges people and communities can face during times of disruption. Having experienced the aftermath of the 1974 Guin tornado and the 2011 Hackleburg–Phil Campbell tornado, she understands the lasting impact disasters can have and the resilience required to recover and move forward.

Sherry holds a Master of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Forensic Psychology and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and Entrepreneurship, along with multiple professional certifications related to addiction recovery. At Gulsby Consulting, she focuses on resource and content development, producing practical guides, publications, and materials that support planning, response, recovery, and organizational resilience.
